COOKING A PERFECT CURRICULUM.

Currimakers, a team of veterans from the education sector, creates a curriculum keeping in mind the development and growth milestones of children.

The methodology is experiential; children get hands-on experience related to various concepts. How does a sapling grow into a plant? how does a motor boat work? how does recycling waste saves the environment?

The language class targets not just to teach correct grammar and sentence structure, but also aims to unleash the creativity in children. The idea is to open their minds first and then help them build on it. With this kind of freedom and encouragement from their teachers, students who couldn't think beyond two lines today express their thoughts in four pages! The mantra of teachers at presidium is this: we are not here to provide answers but to encourage children to ask questions and seek answers themselves.

SUBJECT BASED LEARNING (SBL)

The curriculum for each core subject is unique at Presidium as it breaks away from conventional ways of teaching. The emphasis is not on rote learning of facts and figures but helping students to make sense of their experiences and the world around them, understand concepts deeply and apply them. To make this happen, Currimakers create detailed Instruction Maps (iMaps) for teachers to understand the what, why and how of teaching and learning process. Teachers are provided with supporting tools and aids to execute the iMaps and ensure learning in the true sense of the term.

THEME BASED LEARNING (TBL)

TBL is built around the familiar themes of children’s everyday life. Under this they develop deeper understanding of concepts and theme by engaging in multiple, varied and meaningful activities carefully designed to achieve specific objectives. Thereafter, they share this understanding with an audience (teachers, parents, friends, etc.), which further strengthens their learning.

PROJECT BASED LEARNING (PBL)

PBL introduces real life problems to students where they take on an active role as problem solvers. They think of multiple ways of solving the problem and share what they need to learn to create the solution. Thus, they themselves drive the process of learning. Once they have learnt all the necessary skills and concepts, they apply them to create something that solves the problem. The process demands collaboration, reflection, ideation and trying out the new ideas. This way PBL builds in them critical and divergent thinking, and problem solving skills - all essential in today’s complex, fast changing world.
